Internet Advertising Adds Pop To Corn Maze Marketing
Fort Hill Farms in Thompson, Connecticut annually hosts a corn maze for visitors as a way of drawing more people to the farm. The 2009 corn maze was sponsored in part by The Farmer's Cow and Stop & Shop. Fort Hill Farms was looking for an effective way to make more people aware of the corn maze so they could show increased sponsorship value to The Farmer's Cow and Stop & Shop.
The Solution
Precision Marketing suggested a simple mix of Pay-per-click Internet advertising on both Google and Yahoo and the crafting and distribution of the release to area newspapers.
Results
The release was sent to papers in Connecticut, Central Massachusetts and Rhode Island and garnered a number of very good articles during the early autumn featuring the corn maze as a great family activity for the fall. Many papers ran stories with Fort Hill Farms' provided aerial shot of the corn maze which was shaped like a cow and her calf.
The pay-per-click campaigns ran for the entire month of October and drove 1,843 visitors to the corn maze page. Over 20% of those who visited the page then looked at detailed directions. In all, Fort Hill Farms spent only $525 on click costs. At the gate, many visitors said they found out about the maze by searching the Internet and overall traffic was up from 2008, despite poor weekend weather in 2009. |
